Hi, my name’s Neil! I’m a dancer, a teacher, and an engineer. I put together this website as an alternative to maintaining a more traditional social media presence, but the idea is the same. Come here to get to know me better, and then hopefully I will get to dance with you!
I primarily dance Modern Jive and West Coast Swing, but I have dabbled in quite a few other styles. While there are definitely styles of dance I am less experienced in, there aren’t really any I don’t like. Dance is dance, to me, and I am happy to try anything.
I love to lead and follow, in partnered dances. I could talk all day about the relationship between gender and dance, but this probably isn’t the right space for that. What matters, to me, is that I want to play with the full experience of partnered dancing, and I see no reason to cut myself off from 50% of a style (or 50% of the potential dance partners) just because of traditional gender roles.
I am based in Brisbane, Australia. On a week to week basis, you can probably run into me at most Le Step classes. But these days I also travel for dance quite a bit. If you want to see me at an event, come check out my dance calendar.
